Descrizione
Description: Chinese quartz snuff bottle, carved outside with lotuses and painted inside with swimming fishes. The tridimensional combination of the outer carved lotuses and the fishes seen through the transparent mineral is outstanding, since by moving the bottle seems that the fishes too are moving besides the lotuses’ stems.
Material: Quartz.
Size: 69 mm high
Provenance: Antiquarian market
References: A bottle from the Bloch collection sold by Bonhams, although made of quartz with inclusions of tourmaline hair crystals, and not carved outside. See last picture.
