Descrizione
Description: Chinese ruby red overlay on bubbled transparent glass snuff bottle of imposing shape. Due to the relevant thickness of the red overlay, all the carved parts are well rounded and thick, giving to the bottle a massive presence which makes it appearing bigger than its real size. The carving on one side is representing Shou Lao, holding a peach and surrounded by a bat and a lingzhi fungus under a pine tree. On the other side it is represented the poet and calligrapher Wang Xizhi with both arms outstretched to throw the food to the goose, as it is known his love for these animals. Coincidentally, an air bubble in the transparent layer of glass happened to be right between the hands and the goose, as if it were the thrown food, see sixth picture. The sides of the bottle are decorated with mock lion mask handles.
